Lecture on Holy Women Held in Dublin
The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Ireland and Iceland presented models of faith and discussed pastoral priorities.
The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Ireland and Iceland held a lecture on February 8, 2026, in its cathedral in Dublin on the topic "Holy Women of the Romanian People as Life Models." The speaker was historian and theologian George Enache. This was reported by Orthodox Times. The focus was on the life and spiritual witness of Romanian saints, including martyrs, nuns, as well as Christian wives and mothers. The lecture illuminated their role in preserving and transmitting the Orthodox faith across various historical epochs. At the same time, attention was drawn to recent canonizations, which according to church understanding make visible God's work in the life of the people. The event took place within the framework of the commemorative year 2026, which in the Romanian Patriarchate is dedicated to holy women.
Subsequently, the diocesan assembly convened and took stock of the church work of 2025. Priorities for further development were also established, particularly in the areas of pastoral care, mission, education, as well as social and cultural projects. The conclusion was formed by a clergy assembly, where questions of parish work abroad and future undertakings of the diocese were discussed.
