Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas was celebrated in the parish in Frankfurt

In Frankfurt, a lecture deepened the teaching of Saint Gregory Palamas on the connection between prayer and fasting.

On the second Sunday of Great Lent, dedicated to Saint Gregory Palamas, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the churches of the Serbian Orthodox community in Frankfurt. The faithful gathered for common prayer and participation in the Eucharist to deepen the spiritual significance of this special Lenten period. The community reported this on Instagram. Following the Liturgy, a spiritual lecture on the theme "On Prayer During the Time of Fasting" took place in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. It was particularly emphasized that fasting, according to the teaching of Saint Gregory Palamas, does not only mean abstaining from food, but is above all an invitation to inner concentration, to vigilance of the spirit, and to a living prayer life.

The lecture emphasized that prayer is not merely a habit or formal action, but a personal encounter with the living God. Only when fasting and prayer are united together does fasting become a path of spiritual renewal and genuine conversion of the heart.

Previously, UOJ reported that the Orthodox youth community successfully looked back on the previous year at a meeting.
