Memorial Service for Patriarch Ilia II Celebrated in Trieste
Various Orthodox communities prayed together in honor of the departed Patriarch.
In Trieste, a panichida was celebrated for the recently departed Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II. The service was attended by Priest Ioan Brașoveanu, head of the local community. The celebration took place in the Cathedral of Saint Spyridon. This was reported by the community on Telegram. Under the vaults of the cathedral, clergy and faithful from various Orthodox communities gathered, including Georgian, Serbian, Moldovan, and Romanian parishes. The common prayer became an expression of pan-Orthodox unity as well as solidarity in faith and in remembrance of the spiritual heritage of the departed Patriarch.
At the invitation of the Georgian community, other clergy also participated in the service, including Priest Raško Radović and Priest Valentin-Filip Tarța. The celebration once again emphasized the close cooperation and living connection between the Orthodox communities of the city.
