Believers prayed in Albania on Soul Saturday for the deceased
In numerous cities and metropolises of the country, Divine Liturgies and memorial services took place.
On Soul Saturday, numerous Orthodox faithful throughout Albania commemorated the deceased and participated in divine services. In many cities and metropolises of the country, Divine Liturgies and memorial services were celebrated, during which prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the departed. This was reported by Orthodox Times. In the churches, the faithful traditionally gathered with kollyva to commemorate their deceased and benefactors in common prayer. Services were celebrated in Tirana, Durrës, as well as in the metropolises of Korça, Berat, Gjirokastra, Elbasan, and Fier, among others. They brought together numerous people in the spirit of remembrance and hope for eternal life.
In Berat, Metropolitan Astios celebrated the Divine Liturgy and subsequently held a Trisagion at the resting place of his predecessor. Special prayers for the deceased also took place in Gjirokastër. In his sermon, Metropolitan Nathanael emphasized that prayer for the departed is a sign of Christian love and that they remain present in the heart of the Church.
