Palm Sunday celebrated with Bishop Grigorije in Berlin
Festive service in the sign of Christ's entry into Jerusalem performed in the Church of Saint Sava in Berlin.
On April 5, 2026, Palm Sunday, the Orthodox community in Berlin celebrated a festive divine service in the presence of Bishop Grigorije. The liturgy centered on commemorating the solemn entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, where people welcomed him with palm branches. The faithful gathered in large numbers to observe this significant event of the church year in a dignified and contemplative atmosphere. This was reported by the Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Sava in Berlin. The divine service also served as spiritual preparation for the approaching Holy Week, the time of Christ's passion and death. Through the presence of Bishop Grigorije, the celebration received special consecration and significance for the community in Berlin, which prepared itself through prayers and hymns for the approaching Easter feast.
Palm Sunday marks an important turning point in the church calendar, namely between the pre-Easter Lenten period and the beginning of Holy Week, and invites the faithful to consciously focus on the central mystery of the Christian faith, the Resurrection of Christ.
Previously, UOJ reported that a pre-Easter market in Hamburg brought the community together.
