Düsseldorf Community Celebrated Liturgy on Maundy Thursday
Serbian Orthodox Community of Saint Sava celebrated divine service.
On April 9, 2026, the episcopal liturgy for Great Thursday was celebrated in the church of Saint Sava in Düsseldorf. This day commemorates the Last Supper in the church calendar and holds a central position in Holy Week. The parish reported this on Instagram. Great Thursday has its roots in the events of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples. In Christian tradition, this day commemorates the institution of the Eucharist as well as the commandment of love and service that Christ gave through the washing of feet.
Numerous faithful gathered for prayer in the church. The service served as inner preparation for the following days of Holy Week and the approaching Easter feast.
