Baptism of Catechumens Performed Before Liturgy in Munich

Metropolitan Mark led divine service in Munich.

In the Russian Orthodox community in Munich, the baptism of catechumens was performed before the beginning of the Divine Liturgy. The baptismal ceremony took place at the side altar of the church dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and was conducted by Priest Thomas, who provides pastoral care for the community. The baptized, who had previously prepared for receiving the sacrament, subsequently participated in the liturgy. The service was then led by Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany. The connection between baptism and liturgy emphasizes the reception of the newly baptized into the eucharistic community of the Church.

The community, which originally comes from the German-speaking region and gathers in Munich, thus experienced a connection between baptism and Eucharist within the framework of a common worship service. The celebration was perceived as a significant moment in community life and strengthened the feeling of spiritual unity.
