Online Course for Byzantine Church Music Has Started
An online course offers an introduction to Orthodox psaltik for German-speaking participants.
Starting from March 10, a beginner's course in Byzantine Orthodox church music in German has begun. The course is organized by the Orthodox youth organization OJ and is aimed at all those interested in learning the basics of traditional church music. This was reported by OJ on Instagram. The course is led by Brother David Vlașin from the Skete "St. John the Evangelist" in Găbud, Romania. Participants receive an introduction to Byzantine psalmody, learn its musical and liturgical foundations, and practice singing this form of spiritual music in German as well.
The classes take place online via Google Meet and began on March 10 at 7:30 PM (German time). Interested parties can register through a WhatsApp group and receive further information about the course. The goal of the initiative is to make the beauty and tradition of Byzantine church music accessible to a broader German-speaking audience.
