Anointing Service and Episcopal Liturgy Announced in the Parish in Bochum
Believers were invited to participate in the Sacrament of Holy Unction and the episcopal liturgy.
The Russian Orthodox community in Bochum invites the faithful on Saturday, March 7, 2026, to celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Unction (Anointing of the Sick, Soborovaniye). The service begins at 7:00 PM and will be celebrated following the All-Night Vigil, which begins at 4:00 PM. The faithful are asked to come as early as possible to spiritually prepare for the sacrament. The community reported this on Instagram. The anointing service will be led by Bishop Hiob. The Sacrament of Holy Unction holds special significance in Orthodox tradition, as it is meant to provide the faithful with spiritual and physical strengthening as well as forgiveness of sins.
On the following Sunday, Bishop Hiob will also preside over the Divine Liturgy. The ceremonial greeting of the hierarch in the church is scheduled for 9:30 AM, before the liturgy begins. The community invites all faithful to participate in these special services. >
