Good Friday in Ludwigsburg: Procession of the Shroud Icon

On Good Friday, April 10, 2026, a solemn evening service was held at the place of worship of the Serbian Orthodox community in Ludwigsburg. The focus was on the ritual of the procession of the shroud, which commemorates the taking down of Christ from the cross and his burial. The community reported this on Instagram. The service was led by Archpriest Stanko Rakić. During the celebration, the shroud was carried to the center of the church as an image of Christ's burial and laid down for veneration by the faithful.

The procession of the shroud is considered one of the central moments of Good Friday. The faithful commemorated in prayer and silence the suffering and death of Jesus Christ and participated in the symbolic representation of his burial.

Previously, UOJ reported that ROJ Cologne published a video about the suffering of Christ.
