Sacrament of Holy Unction announced for March 28
The community of St. George Monastery in Götzendorf has announced the Sacrament of Holy Unction for Saturday, March 28, at 6:00 PM. The celebration takes place at the request of many faithful and is part of the spiritual preparation during Great Lent. The announcement was published on Telegram. The Sacrament of Holy Unction, also known as the Anointing of the Sick, is a central mystery of the Church. Through the prayers of priests and anointing with consecrated oil, the faithful receive God's grace, which contributes to the healing of spiritual and physical ailments as well as the forgiveness of forgotten sins.
Traditionally, the sacrament is administered primarily to the sick, but it can also be received by healthy faithful to gain spiritual strengthening and prepare more consciously for church life and the upcoming feast days.
