Kidnappers killed seminarian in Nigeria because of his faith

A convicted criminal has confessed in an interview to killing Nigerian seminarian Michael Nnadi because he continued to proclaim the Christian faith even during his captivity. According to his own statements, the perpetrator felt provoked by the courage and steadfastness of the 18-year-old, who had repeatedly called on his kidnappers to repent and fearlessly spoke of the Gospel. This was reported by EWTN.

Michael Nnadi was one of four seminarians who were abducted in January 2020 from the "Good Shepherd" seminary in Nigeria's Kaduna state. Armed men had raided the facility, stolen valuables, and kidnapped the young men. Three of them were later released, while Nnadi was found dead in early February. The kidnappers had previously demanded ransom.

The fate of Michael Nnadi is exemplary of the ongoing threat that Christians in Nigeria face. In numerous parts of the country, kidnappings, raids on church facilities, and targeted attacks by gangs and extremist groups are part of daily life. In light of this situation, church representatives repeatedly appeal to the international community to look more closely, pray for those affected, and make the protection of the population more effective.
