Life Protection Group Commemorated 50 Years of Abortion Regulation in Germany

The pro-life organization "Action Right to Life for All" (ALfA) has commemorated the introduction of the so-called indication solution 50 years ago and conducted a critical assessment of developments since then. According to the initiative's estimation, several million abortions have been performed since the regulation came into force. Against this background, the organization raises the question of whether sufficient alternatives and support services have been provided for women in conflict situations. This was reported by CNA. In ALfA's view, the current abortion law represents a political compromise that, while fundamentally recognizing the right to life of unborn children, does not sufficiently guarantee it from the organization's perspective. According to them, effective protection of life cannot be achieved through laws alone, but requires a societal attitude that comprehensively supports expectant mothers and recognizes unborn life as worthy of protection.

The initiative calls for stronger emphasis on the state's protective mandate for unborn life in public discourse, such as in schools and media. What is needed is a culture that effectively helps women in crisis situations and provides more support to families. The background is the statistic of over 100,000 penalty-free abortions annually in Germany.

Previously, UOJ reported that the EU Commission is examining an initiative on abortion travel in Europe.
