Ecumenical Dialogue in Stuttgart Strengthens Church Cooperation

The 19th dialogue meeting between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) has concluded in Stuttgart. The conference took place from February 1-5, 2026, at the Academy of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart and was held under the theme "The Yield of Nicaea." The delegations were led by Bishop Frank Kopania (EKD) and Bishop Ambrosius of Argyroupolis. This was reported by Orthodoxie.net. The focus of the discussions was the ecumenical significance of the Trinitarian Creed, which traces back to the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325). The participants examined its theological, liturgical, and ecclesiastical relevance as a common foundation for understanding the Church, worship, and Christian witness in the present day.

In addition to the scholarly presentations, the meeting was characterized by common prayers, encounters with Orthodox communities, and exchanges with church working groups. In a joint communiqué, the delegations acknowledged the cooperation, highlighted the participation of young theologians, and advocated for the continuation of bilateral dialogue between Orthodoxy and Protestantism.
