Pope Leo XIV received Eastern Orthodox monks and priests
In the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV received young priests and monks from Eastern Orthodox Churches. Participants from various churches took part in a study visit organized by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity. In his address, the Pope emphasized the common spiritual tradition and appreciated the diversity of churches as part of a shared Christian heritage. This was reported by Vatican News. The Pope recalled the recently observed Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and referenced the words of the Apostle Paul about unity in faith. At the same time, he warned that church communities could become too focused on themselves, and emphasized the importance of mutual support and awareness of being part of the one Body of Christ.
Leo XIV called upon those present to grow together in faith and work for unity. This requires breaking down prejudices and "disarming" one's own heart. If it becomes possible to meet differences with humility and love, cooperation can be deepened and Christian unity can become a sign of peace and reconciliation in the world. In conclusion, the Pope thanked for the visit and invited the participants to a common prayer.
Previously, UOJ reported that the Vatican put diplomacy for peace in Ukraine in first place.
