Maundy Thursday in Kassel: Signs of Humility and Preparation for Easter
On April 9, the Serbian Orthodox community in Northern Hesse began Maundy Thursday of Holy Week. On this day, the Church remembers the Last Supper as well as Christ's washing of the feet, with which he gave his disciples an example of humility and service. This was reported by UOJ. Following this tradition, the head of the community in Kassel, Priest Marko, performed the symbolic washing of the hands of community members during the service. The action was understood as an expression of Christian love for one's neighbor and as a sign of spiritual preparation for the Easter feast.
After the Divine Liturgy, the clergyman addressed the faithful with a speech. He called upon them to consciously use the remaining time of Holy Week for inner reflection and to prepare worthily for the celebration of Christ's Resurrection.
Previously, UOJ reported that the Great Oil Blessing was celebrated in two communities in Cologne.
