Patriarch Theophilos III leads celebration of the Presentation of the Lord in Jerusalem
On February 15, 2026, the Feast of the Meeting of the Lord was solemnly celebrated at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. It commemorates the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple forty days after his birth, when the aged Simeon recognized in him the promised Messiah. The feast emphasizes the Incarnation of Christ and his faithfulness to the Law. This was reported by Orthodox Times. Patriarch Theophilos III presided over the central celebrations in the Church of Saints Constantine and Helena. Additional services, including a solemn Vespers service and a Divine Liturgy, took place at the neighboring Panagia Sayda Naya Monastery. The celebrations were attended by clergy of all ranks, pilgrims from various countries, as well as representatives of Greek diplomatic missions.
The services emphasized the unique position of Jerusalem as the site of salvation history. The joint celebration by clergy, faithful, and pilgrims from around the world demonstrated the international solidarity and spiritual unity of the Orthodox Church in the face of this significant feast.
Previously, UOJ reported that a youth meeting for Maslenitsa was planned in Berlin.
