Jordanville: Archimandrite Spyridon Consecrated as Bishop of Toronto

On February 11 and 12, 2026, the Holy Trinity Seminary of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR) celebrated its patronal feast of the Three Hierarchs with a special ecclesiastical event. As part of the celebrations, Archimandrite Spyridon (Gusakov) was first nominated and then consecrated as Bishop of Toronto during the Divine Liturgy. He will serve as vicar bishop of the Diocese of Montreal and Canada in the future. This was reported by the Holy Trinity Seminary on Instagram. Metropolitan Nikolai of New York and Eastern America, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, presided over the divine services. Several bishops concelebrated alongside him, including Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada as well as other hierarchs from North America and the Orthodox diaspora. The liturgical celebrations were embedded in the patronal feast, which is traditionally dedicated to the theological legacy of the Three Hierarchs.

Through the episcopal consecration, the Church emphasized the central importance of theological education and the missionary task in North America. The entire seminary community, consisting of faculty, students, alumni and supporters, understood the events as an expression of continuity and growth of ecclesiastical life. With the traditional cry "Axios" they welcomed the new bishop.
