Police asked for tips following attack on Ghanaian girls

Following the violent attack on two girls from Ghana, police have activated a digital platform for reporting tips and are calling on the public for support. There, witnesses can submit photographic material, videos, or their own observations to advance the investigation. A specially established task force is already evaluating existing evidence. This was reported by Evangelische Zeitung. The incident occurred on June 14, 2024, in Grevesmühlen, when the two eight and ten-year-old girls encountered a group of teenagers. One child and her father were slightly injured in the attack and received medical treatment. According to police findings, several people were directly involved, and xenophobic statements were allegedly made.

The suspects are being investigated for, among other things, dangerous bodily harm, breach of the peace, and incitement to hatred. Politicians at federal and state levels strongly condemned the incident and emphasized that racially motivated violence must be thoroughly investigated and consistently prosecuted legally.

Previously, UOJ reported that Boko Haram killed at least 40 farmers and fishermen in Borno.
