Court stopped deportation of a Coptic family father in Münster
The Administrative Court of Münster has temporarily halted the planned deportation of an Egyptian family father from the Coptic Orthodox community. As a court spokesperson announced, an emergency application by the man was granted. The decision was based on his wife's critical health condition and the protection of family unity. This was reported by Kirche und Leben. Previously, members of the Coptic community had demonstrated in front of the deportation detention center in Büren against the planned deportation of the family. As the church announced, the family has been in Germany for about four years. The father has regular employment and is considered well integrated, while the mother is currently being treated in hospital due to a life-threatening health condition. The two school-age daughters are temporarily living with another family.
The Coptic Orthodox Bishop Anba Damian, responsible for Northern Germany, had approached the authorities with a request to reconsider the case. He pointed out that deporting the father would tear the family apart. A court temporarily stopped the deportation, so the man can remain in Germany for now.
Previously, UOJ reported that the Church excluded critics from the community in Serbia.
