SOKAD Convention Day XVI planned in Gießen
The SOKAD Convention Day XVI of the Syriac Orthodox Church is scheduled for April 3-5, 2026 in Gießen. The multi-day event is aimed at members of Syriac Orthodox communities and is intended to provide space for encounter, exchange, and communal experience in an ecclesiastical context. Further program details are to be announced in the coming weeks. This was reported by dayromorjakob.
In preparation for the Convention Day, a planning meeting recently took place under the leadership of His Eminence Mor Philoxenus Mattias Nayis. Several clergy members as well as representatives of church boards participated in the consultations. Young people from SOKAD Youth in Gießen also participated and brought their perspectives into the planning.
The focus was on organizational questions, the timeline of the event, as well as possibilities for active involvement of youth. The goal of the session was to create substantive and practical foundations for a well-structured weekend. According to participants, the discussions proceeded constructively.
Previously, UOJ reported that the German Diocese of ROCOR reminded about a scientific anniversary conference.
