International Guests Explored Hamburg During Orthodox City Tour

As part of a Christmas ball on January 16, participants from various regions of Germany as well as from abroad gathered in Hamburg. A smaller group from Munich, Lithuania, and Sweden additionally took advantage of an individual city tour organized together with representatives of the Hamburg community "Sretenie." The goal was to introduce guests to central cultural and ecclesiastical sites of the Hanseatic city. This was reported by the youth project Sretenie.

The program included visits to the Elbphilharmonie, the harbor, the town hall, St. Michael's Church, and the Composers' Quarter. A special highlight was the ascent of St. Peter's Church tower, which offered a view over the city. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to venerate the relics of Saint Ansgar, who is considered the first Archbishop of Hamburg and was canonized before the Church schism.

In this context, reference was also made to a service in honor of Saint Ansgar that took place on February 3 at St. Peter's. Choirs from various Christian denominations in Hamburg participated in the celebration, including Orthodox ensembles.

Previously, UOJ reported that Orthodox youth from Ulm visited the gala ball in Cologne.
